Obsidian Quick Write AI Chat - Chrome Web Store
AI chat, GPT writing assistant, and smart Agent for Markdown notes in your authorized Obsidian Vault.
Quick Write-A Markdown note with AI support
## Summary
An all-in-one AI sidebar for search, reading, and writing that saves Markdown notes directly to your authorized local Note Vault.
## Full Description
If you regularly switch between AI Chat and other AI workflows, Quick Write is built to give you one more practical home for that work: a local-first AI sidebar connected to your Markdown notes.
Quick Write is not trying to be just another chat website. It is designed to bring AI search, AI reading, AI writing, and local note-taking into the same browser workflow, so you can capture ideas, summarize pages, improve drafts, and save the result directly into your Note Vault.
### Why We Built It This Way
We believe the best AI tools should fit into the tools people already use, not force them to bounce between tabs, copy content back and forth, and rebuild context every few minutes.
Quick Write brings those AI capabilities into a lighter, more focused workflow built around local Markdown notes.
### Why Not Just Open AI
Quick Write adds the workflow layer around them:
- A focused AI sidebar that reduces tab switching between chat, pages, and notes - Search, reading, and writing actions instead of only plain chat prompts - Direct local Markdown output into your Note Vault - Better page-context workflows for titles, URLs, and selected text when you choose them - Agent-style note assistance that can read, search, and edit notes, with confirmation required before mutating actions
### Multi-Model AI Sidebar
Quick Write currently includes built-in setup paths for custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints, making it a strong fit for users who want multiple AI workflows in one sidebar.
If you route additional models through a compatible gateway, you can also bring and similar models into the same AI sidebar workflow. In that sense, Quick Write is designed as a local AI workspace for multi-model users, not just a single-bot chat window.
### Core Capabilities
- AI sidebar for chat, note help, summarization, and writing support - AI search and reading workflows for pages, selections, and captured context - AI writing tools to improve notes, rewrite text, and suggest titles and tags - Agent note assistance that can read, search, and edit notes, with approval before changes - Local Markdown note workflow for creating, opening, organizing, and autosaving notes - Vault file and folder management, including browse, create, move, and delete actions - YAML tags and optional frontmatter support - Recovery features for write failures, interrupted sessions, and external-change conflicts - English and Simplified Chinese interface support
### Who It Is For
- Users who want AI search, reading, and writing inside their note workflow - Users who want AI output to land directly in a local Markdown knowledge base - Anyone who wants fewer tabs, less copy-paste, and a more integrated AI writing flow
### Local-First and Privacy
Notes are written directly to the local Vault directory you choose. Settings, recent-note metadata, the authorized directory handle, and emergency recovery data stay in browser-managed storage on your device. Quick Write does not run a project-owned account system, advertising system, or proprietary analytics service.
Chrome may ask you to reauthorize the selected directory after a browser restart or permission change. You stay in control of which local directory the extension can access.
### Page Context Access
Quick Write reads a page title, URL, or selected text only when you explicitly trigger a related feature. It does not continuously monitor your browsing activity.
Quick Write is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Obsidian.
